Would you consider Shaq or Wilt better?
Wilt was a dominant force in a league that had no "big men" like it does today. Do you realize that the only reason he had 22.9 rpg was that the league was playing below the basket much more than today, the big men weren't that big at the time, the pace was much greater than today, people didn't shoot as good back then, AND he was a beast. Notice I didn't say he was a beast first, because I don't think this was the key reason he racked up HUGE stats. Don't get me wrong. Wilt was great, and will always be one of the greats, but I think if you crossed up Shaq and Wilt into each other's eras, Wilt would get swallowed up into more of the above-average mold of a center, while Shaq would take his 7'1" 315-330 lb. frame and dominate to the tune of 40 ppg, 25 rpg, 6 bpg., and .700 fg%. He'd ruin the 60's centers. I think Wilt gets the edge in most people's book, but I think Shaq would actually be the better pick, despite what the numbers alone might tell you.
