How many bible thumpers did god kill in katrina?

Whenever I was in the french quarter there were always a bunch of bible t bigots running around yelling that everyone was going to hell, I wonder what happened to them. I'm pretty sure god was indiscriminate with the homes that he smashed. I was recently told god takes vengeance on those that mock him or work against him. Why does it seem he also takes vengeance on those that support him? It's almost as if random acts of nature are simply that, random.
