How do you find out if one statistical variable cause another one to change? causation basically?

Correlation isn't the samething as causation i understand but they are related. Correlation meanis if there is a relationship i think but how do you actually find out through regression ysis and etc. if one thing actually causes another to change. Is it the P-value or something else.
